摘星臺
大家現在已順利登上黃石寨了。前面這座上平下懸的圓形石峰就是“摘星臺”。站在臺上，使人油然產生“一覽眾山小”的感慨!這里可眺望“雙門迎賓”、“天然壁畫”、“玉瓶峰”、“兔兒望月”等主要景點。特別是到了晚上，有一種與星星近在咫尺的感覺，似乎一伸手，就能將天上的星星“摘下來”。
六奇閣
前面這個人工景點就是“六奇閣”?！傲妗睖蚀_地說是指山奇、水奇、云奇、石奇、動物奇、植物奇。這是公園內唯一的人造景觀，它采用大理石和鋼筋混凝土等材料建成，高四層，攢尖飛頂，重檐突出，是一座集民俗、書法、自然景觀于一體的特殊樓閣。站在三樓，可以盡情飽覽張家界的壯麗風光。站在閣頂，可以看到袁家界、楊家界、天子山、朝天觀、三姐妹峰……

后山門
現在來到后山門，它猶如一道石門，中間陡峭，兩邊狹窄，地勢十分險要。過去這里是登黃石寨的唯一通道。1995年3月，江x民就是從這里上下黃石寨的。上山途中，江在休息時興致勃勃地拉起二胡，為當地的土家族女歌手伴奏;登上寨頂后，又情不自禁地唱起京劇《智取威虎山》中的“打虎上山”唱段，與游客們同樂。

下面就請大家跟隨我一起沿著這條“杉林幽徑”來欣賞兩旁讓人目不瑕接的風景吧。這是一排排陡峭而又曲折的山路。自古登黃石寨只有后山一條路，今天我們走的這條路，是十多年以前人工開鑿的。
大家請注意聽，前面?zhèn)鱽砹岁囮嚫杪暋＿@是悅耳動聽的土家山歌，前面便是土家姑娘的點歌臺。一個個衣著秀麗的土家姑娘正在載歌載舞地歡迎著各位來賓，她們優(yōu)美的歌聲是否會喚起您對土家民風的無限向往呢?她們的熱情好客、淳樸善良是否帶給您一種從未有過的輕松和快樂?此時此刻，您是否感悟到張家界“山美、水美、人更美”的真諦呢?
大家請看右邊對面的山上，有一個約20米高的圓形石柱，上面有一塊長約3米、寬l.5米的石匣，在石匣上有一個石蓋，這石蓋一半兒凌空，一半兒蓋于匣上，周圍環(huán)繞著五棵翠綠的松柏。傳說張良曾將黃石公的三卷天書藏于匣內，后因戰(zhàn)事平息，張良又取出天書放置在其他地方，但是他卻忘記合上抽蓋，至今留下一只半掩半開的石匣。由于這石匣內曾藏過天書，因而被人譽稱為“天書寶匣”。
大家請看前方，兩山相擠，中間僅有一通道，其形如門，大有“一夫當關，萬夫莫開”的氣勢，這里就是“南天門”。

順著我手指的放向便是“定海神針”。它高大挺拔，巍然屹立，似乎在用強硬的身軀支撐著整座大山。“定海神針”與“金鞭巖”遙遙相對，形成了一幅十分壯觀的“天然壯景”。那前面這座孤立的柱峰又是什么景點呢?它拔地而起，直插云霄，高達300余米，這就是張家界有名的“南天一柱”了，因為它立在南天門下面而得名。“南天一柱”是整個“武陵源”風景的特寫，它拔地而起，上大下小。在它身上有一種歷經萬年滄桑卻仍然堅忍不拔的精神，是整個“武陵源”石英砂巖峰林地貌景觀的縮影，也是“張家界國際森林保護節(jié)”的節(jié)徽和標志。
說起石英砂巖峰林地貌，大家可能會奇怪，大自然為何會如此神奇?根據科學的論證，3億多年以前，這里曾經是一片汪洋大海，大約1億年前左右，由于海浪的沖擊，石英砂巖在海底沉積了500多米厚。后來經新構造運動強烈抬升，這里成了陸地，地面抬升以后，在流水的深切作用下，一些細小的砂石被沖走，加上在重力的作用下，巖石崩塌，又被雨水，溪流慢慢的沖刷等綜合作用，使得五凌援地區(qū)在漫長的歲月中逐漸形成這中奇特的石英砂巖峰林地貌。
